Breast Reduction Surgery in Miami
The breast specialists of BECA Miami offer breast reduction surgery to women who want to reduce the volume of their large breasts.
- When other women tell you they wish they had your problem of large breasts, do you tell them it’s not a blessing but a curse?
- Are the never-ending pain of bra straps digging into your shoulders and back problems caused by supporting large breasts getting old?
- Do you dream of participating in sports or exercising without the weight of large breasts affecting your every movement?
- Are you tired of the leers and unwanted attention that a large bust line will sometimes attract?
The answer to all of these issues is in one surgery: breast reduction. A breast reduction surgery will remove excess breast tissue, fat and skin in order to reduce the size of your breasts. But why choose BECA for your breast reduction surgery?
Find Out if You’re a Good Candidate
We like to meet face-to-face with all of our prospective patients in order to introduce ourselves, get to know you, answer your questions and evaluate your candidacy for surgery in person. Before we meet you, however, we have compiled some general guidelines for you to review.
You might be a good breast reduction candidate if you:
- Are self-conscious about having overly large breasts
- Have back, neck and shoulder pain from supporting large breasts
- Have nipples that, when breasts are unsupported, fall below the breast fold
- Have overly large breasts that limit physical activity
- Have breasts that are different sizes

What to Expect in the Breast Reduction Procedure
Breast reduction surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure with an overnight stay in a surgical facility. The surgery typically takes between two to three hours to complete, depending on the size of the breasts.
The techniques and incision patterns used in breast reduction surgery are based on the patient’s breast size. The amount of sagging is a big factor when a surgeon is choosing which incision to use. Breasts that are moderately large and have a moderate amount of sagging typically benefit from a keyhole incision (an incision that goes around the areola and vertically down the center of the breast). Breasts that are very large and with significant sagging may require an anchor incision, which is a keyhole incision pattern with an additional horizontal incision made along the breast crease.
From the incision, excess breast tissue, fat and skin are removed and the remaining tissue is shaped. The nipple and areola usually remain attached during the procedure, except when the breasts are large and pendulous, in which case the nipple and areola are sometimes removed and reattached to a higher position on the breast. The incisions are then closed with sutures and a surgical bra will be placed over the breasts.
Recovery from Breast Reduction Surgery
After surgery, you will most likely have some swelling and/or bruising of the chest. If you experience any pain, you can use the medication prescribed by your doctor for relief. Sleep with your upper body elevated with pillows to reduce swelling. Avoid lifting anything over five pounds for at least the first week after surgery. You’ll be able to return to a desk job or something equally sedentary within one to two weeks after surgery, and light exercise (though no lifting) after the first week. After four weeks, strenuous exercise can be resumed.
