At BECA Centers our mommy makeover procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, which means that you’ll be back home the day of your surgery.
What Areas of My Body Will Mommy Makeover Improve?
Mommy makeover is an individually tailored treatment that addresses whatever areas you and your surgeon decide could use a little rejuvenation. This may include the breasts, abdominal area, thighs, buttocks and arms.
The mommy makeover treatment is typically comprised of two or more of the following procedures:
During pregnancy, the milk glands in the breasts swell. Following birth, the glands shrink, and what remains is skin, with not much to fill it. As a result, the breasts sag. But thanks to cosmetic breast surgery procedures — like breast augmentation with natural-looking implants — you can regain the youthful contour of your breasts.
During pregnancy, most women’s breasts undergo extensive swelling. This swelling can cause the skin to stretch and sag. Luckily, an outpatient procedure called mastopexy — otherwise known as breast lift —can remove excess skin and alleviate sagging.
There are two options depending on how your breast look, a breast lift or a breast implant. Think about the skin of your breast as the container and the breast tissue as the volume. All that an implant will do is fill them up, it will not lift them up! They will look just like they do now, just bigger. So if you like the shape and appearance of your breast, an implant will likely suffice for you and “make them bigger”.
A breast lift will only tighten the skin of the breast and will not do anything for the volume. If you feel your breast are saggy but like the size of them in a bra, a breast lift may be just the procedure for you as it will tighten up the skin envelope of your breast and “lift them up”.
Many women actually need and prefer both after having children! A combined breast lift and augmentation will not only lift them up but the addition of the implant will give you the benefit of the fullness at the top of your breast. This is the most common procedure which is both a lift and an implant.
Often times after breastfeeding the mild ducts become elongated and stretched. This may be especially true after multiple pregnancies. There is a simple procedure to shorten the nipple and give it a more youthful, perky appearance. This is done by taking a small amount of skin out around the base of the nipple to shorten the length of the nipple. This does not affect sensation or the ability to breastfeed in the future.
Inverted nipples can occur both at puberty and through pregnancies. This often occurs due to a shortening of the milk duct which pulls or retracts the nipple inward making the nipple inverted. This is also seen frequently after mastitis where the mild duct will get scarred and shorten and cause the nipple to become inverted.
There are more serious issues that can cause the nipple to be inverted. If this is something that has happened recently, you should see your GYN doctor soon to have it checked!
The effects of pregnancy are most apparent in the area around the abdomen. As part of your mommy makeover, the surgeons of BECA Centers can perform tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) to remove the excess skin below the navel. This amazing procedure can also remove stretch marks and transform visible C-section scars into tiny, easily concealable bikini lines.
New mothers have trouble losing fat in certain areas, including the buttocks, thighs and arms. Among the main reasons are the fact that they have slower metabolism and less time to exercise. Fortunately, the expert surgeons of BECA Centers can re-sculpt the body by removing fat deposits.
Our surgeons perform a number vaginal procedures to help mothers improve the appearance of their vaginal area as well as functional problems affecting labia and the vaginal opening. We perform labiaplasty using a unique method that preserves sensation in the labia minora. Our sophisticated procedure involves the use of small flaps that reduce the size of the labia minora.
This technique improves the overall appearance of the labia, preserves sensation and eliminates long-term pain. The most frequently used method is called the posterior wedge procedure, which can be performed with or without a hoodectomy, depending on the needs of the individual patient.
